The most commonly used hormones for BHRT are testosterone, estrogen, and progesterone.
Bloodwork is required before the first treatment and 4-6 weeks after your initial treatment to determine your dosing, then annually thereafter.
Bio-identical hormone pellets last 3-4 months for women and 4-6 months for men. The absorption rate is based on cardiac output and can vary by individual.
The small hormone pellets are typically placed in the hip under a mild, local anesthetic. The procedure takes less than five minutes.
Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy helps alleviate the symptoms most commonly associated with aging such as fatigue, decreased libido, insomnia, hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, decreased mental clarity, loss of muscle mass, joint pain, and changes in sexual function.
Side effects for women and men may occur. In women, transient breast tenderness lasting 7-10 days may occur with the first insertion. There may be some hair growth or acne in moderation from occurrences from testosterone therapy. Men’s side effects may include decreased sperm count, decreased testicular mass and possible prostate enlargement. These side effects occur much more frequently with the use of synthetic hormone replacement therapy.
DIM SGS+ is a required supplement for all Biote patients. It is an ideal combination of Diindolylmethane(DIM), sulforaphane(SGS), and pomegranate extract. These ingredients assist the body by maintaining a healthy testosterone and estrogen metabolism.
This is an easy transition. Your certified treatment specialist will customize a treatment plan to convert from your current method of hormone replacement to the bio-identical pellet therapy.
Breast cancer survivors and/or those who have a history of breast cancer in their family may still be a candidate for hormone replacement therapy. Your provider will discuss the options during your consultation.
