Chemical Peels Q & A

How is a chemical peel procedure performed?

Your esthetician will prepare your skin by cleansing your face and, if desired, neck and décolleté. Once your skin is cleansed and toned, they will then apply a fine layer of your SkinCeutials chemical peel to the desired areas. Depending on the peel, it will sit on the skin for 3-5 minutes. Your esthetician will then neutralize your skin thoroughly with the appropriate solution. If your skin is red, dry, or still reacting from the peel, your esthetician may apply a quick facial mask to meet any of your skins needs post-peel.

What are the benefits of a chemical peel?

Getting a professional chemical peel with SkinCeuticals products removes several impurities from your skin. Shortly after your appointment, you should notice:

  • Visibly fewer fine lines and wrinkles
  • More even skin tone
  • Fewer acne breakouts
  • Softer and smoother skin
  • Lighter scars

How do I care for my skin after a chemical peel?

Following your SkinCeuticals chemical peel, your skin can react and heal differently depending on which peel your esthetician chose for you. For mild peels, your skin will be slightly pink for approximately 24 hours. Dryness is common, especially if your esthetician performed a peel to target acne blemishes/breakouts. Apply any products suggested by your esthetician such as moisturizer, retinol, and any corrective products.

If your esthetician chose a more advanced peel for you, you may experience flaking and peeling following your treatment, for up to 10 days. Avoid picking at your skin and peeling the dead, flakey skin off as it can cause scarring. Use any of the recommended products from your esthetician as suggested.

Sunscreen is highly suggested to prevent sunburns or any other irritations following your peel.
