Behind the Scenes: Cheek and Jaw Dermal Filler Appointment

What are Dermal Fillers and why do people get them?

The normal aging process, as well as environmental factors, causes your skin to wrinkle, fold, and lose collagen, which can result in looking hollow and sunken. Dermal fillers are cosmetic injections used to restore facial harmony by reducing or eliminating fine lines and wrinkles, enhancing facial features, and replacing soft-tissue volume loss.

Facial Mapping prior to filler injections

Before we inject, we facial map. Facial mapping is a tool that enables us to create a natural and proportioned facial appearance, achieving the best outcome with the least side effects. Landmarks, such as facial veins and arteries, are identified to prevent complications of vascular occlusion. We use facial mapping as a guide, outlining key injection points to correct asymmetries of the cheeks, midface, and jaw, thus creating harmonized proportions.

Benefits of jaw and cheek fillers

Filling the cheeks and/or jawline creates the illusion of a slimmer face.  The neck and jawline will appear more defined if you have more of a distinction between face to neck.  Overall, the face will look more angular and sculpted. For this client, we used Juvéderm Voluma XC filler. This filler is special because unlike other dermal fillers on the market that only last up to 1 year, Voluma XC can last for up to 2 years!

Curious about dermal fillers?

If you're curious about dermal fillers, we recommend booking a complimentary consultation. During this consultation, we will talk about your desired results, budget, and age condition of your skin.
